Over the last week, I’ve been asked three times for a margarita recipe. Is it because people aren’t working and they’re ready for one of the most delicious cocktails? Or is it because Cinco de Mayo is here? We will never know for certain. Here’s what I’ve been telling them.
Mix these three in a shaker.
1 shot of good reposado tequila
1 lime, well-squeezed
1 Tablespoon of agave syrup
Pour mix over ice in a large tumbler or pint glass. If you’re into the salt, you'll have rimmed the glass.
Top with water and garnish with a lime. (Depending on your taste, you can add more of any of the three ingredients.)
That’s the basics and in my opinion, it’s the Best Damn Margarita Ever.
Now, you want to get fancy? Try one of these, or get creative on your own!
Muddle a slice or 2 of jalapeño with a bit of fresh mango or mango puree. Then shake that in with the original mix. Garnish with lime and mango slice. For the rim with this mix, blend your salt with a dash of cumin or cyan pepper.
Mash a strawberry or 2 into the original mix. Garnish with a strawberry and rim with sugar.
Take a couple slices of ginger and muddle that with a bit if pineapple in the original mix. I would rim with one with a mix of sugar and a pinch of ginger powder.
Cheers and as always, drink responsibly.
