Hey there - Ft Lauderdale Beach mecca

Hi. Hello. Yo. What's up?
I've been away for some time.
I'm back.
Let's do this again.

Let me tell you once again about the best International World Famous Treasure Trove* bar.
The staff remembers you.
The beers are teeth-cracking cold.
The patrons are the sudsy foam of the earth.

Last night's festivities began there with me and my drinking partner in crime, Pockets knocking back cold IPA from the tap. We enjoyed the company of Winston, a charming in spite of the drooling bull dog, a guitar player sporting his support for the Quincy, Massachusetts high school Militia foot ball team, and a wide sampling of the area's best locals and probably some tourists too. Also, one gent in all white & short shorts who was asked to step outside for his shot because the shorts weren't keeping everything in its place - as it were. A few beers and a lemon drop later, we bounded down the beach looking for "something else."

We landed at the Ft Lauderdale classic, The Elbo Room. Also, World Famous. So Famous that even Santa hangs out there. He was Decked Out, I'm tellin ya. Visualize it; Santa suit top, surfer shorts, flipflops, Santa hat, and giant light-up Christmas balls hanging around his neck. He was a beacon of Santa joy in a bar full of mostly drunk dancers. By the way, the band was rocking.

We moved on again in search of I don't know what.... We landed at S3 (Sun Surf Sand), a beautiful bar and restaurant on the hotel end of Ft Lauderdale Beach Blvd. The bartenders were delightful and the beers were cold. Pockets and I agreed that this would be a great date-night place, so it's been added to the list of places our future dates will take us.

Still searching, we decided to venture north again toward an unknown mecca.

And then, as we walked through the area I call The Big Blank, where there are no bars, no restaurants, no beach bikini hawkers, the unknown thing began to form in the distance. It took a more solid shape as we continued through the dark and the words started to come into focus. Yes....mecca....

Mecca is Primanti Brothers pizza. The perfect end to a night on Ft Lauderdale Beach. Two slices and done.

* As of September, 2018, the Treasure Trove closed after operating for 23 years causing great sadness to folks in the Ft Lauderdale Beach locals community and likely to some tourists who would hit that dirty, lovely, dive bar on return visits. It's missed greatly and I wonder where have all the dive bars gone...??
